What is the objective-and-extraction loop?

Official descriptions present Responders as entering infected locations, completing vital missions, gathering supplies, and trying to extract alive. They also describe objectives as helping restore infrastructure and making future survival more likely. Extraction matters because a dead Responder loses their individual progress.

This gives every mission two connected questions: what must the squad accomplish, and when is it worth leaving with the progress it has protected? The answer is map- and version-specific, so this page stays at the confirmed system level.

Which objective locations are officially named?

The official store description refers to objectives at settings such as abandoned gas stations, bars, and military checkpoints. The Armageddon announcement also identifies Raven Rock as the sixth Objective map and says it has a different flow from other locations.

Those references establish that objectives belong to the Scenario side of the game, but they do not establish a universal route. A reliable page for a particular map needs the current objective steps, prerequisites, failure conditions, and extraction point verified from a current source.

What should a route guide verify before publication?

  • The map and game version covered by the route.
  • Every required item, interaction, and prerequisite in the stated order.
  • What changes with difficulty, squad size, or a failed step.
  • A route to extraction that has been independently checked.

Until those facts are reviewed, use the Scenario maps overview to choose a map and the Beginner Guide for a cautious team-first deployment plan.
